Council is developing a new Property Leasing and Licensing Policy (Policy).

The development of the Policy is identified as an action item from the Property Lead Strategy and Action Plan currently under development at the time of drafting this Plan.

The Policy will provide a clear direction and guidance to Council staff, Elected Members, the community and current users of Council owned and managed buildings, lands and ancillary facilities.

The outcomes of the Policy seek to deliver an equitable, financially sustainable model supporting both commercial and community use of Council owned and managed buildings, lands and ancillary facilities.

Developing the Policy

To develop the Policy, current lease holders will be involved in workshops with Council staff to draft the document. The draft Policy will then be put to the wider community for consultation.

What the community can influence:

  • Types of documents used to formalise the use and occupation of Council owned buildings, lands and ancillary facilities specific to the individual group.
  • Building repairs and maintenance obligations for occupants of Council owned buildings and ancillary facilities.
  • Level of support provided by Council to groups occupying a Council owned building, land or ancillary facility.
