Consultation has concluded

Council is seeking your suggestions for a new name for the Mount Barker regional sports hub.

Up to five names will be shortlisted by Council and put to a community vote along with an existing four names recommended by consultants engaged by Council. The consultant's suggested options are:

  • Adelaide Hills Sports Hub
  • Mount Barker Regional Sports Hub
  • Summit
  • Laratinga

The regional sports hub will form part of a precinct which is intended to include future regional development such as an aquatic facility and further open space improvements. It is important that the facility has a name that reflects the aspirations of the community for the facility to be a place that people want to visit, experience and return to.

To be considered, name suggestions should be:

  • Unique and communicates something meaningful
  • Easy to pronounce and spell
  • A destination in its own right
  • Representative of the community and broader region

Naming guidelines and possible name sources can be found in Council's Road and Public Place Naming Policy.

All community suggestions will be assessed against Naming Selection Criteria with shortlisted names reported to Council to progress to a community vote.
