Council is seeking your feedback on the draft Road Safety Action Plan which is one of the six draft Action Plans that forms part of the Integrated Transport Plan.
The road network provides a vital role in how we live, work and play. It is fundamental to the success of the Mount Barker District Council’s aspirations for a safer, healthier, more connected, sustainable and economically prosperous community.
However, the number of people killed or injured on our roads is unacceptable, and Council and the community must continue to work on ways of reducing this human cost.
Road safety is everyone’s responsibility, it is not simply a transport issue and not solely a government problem. It cuts across health and social services sectors, law enforcement, education and justice, planning and industry, and through everyday activities.
Reducing the number of people injured or killed on our roads will require targeted improvement in the safety of the road network. However, there will also need to be a shift in road user behaviours and community attitudes around how we use the road network.

COMMUNITY CONSULTATION
Community feedback specifically regarding the draft Road Safety Action Plan is open from 5 June to 22 July 2024. During this period, Council invites the community to provide their feedback by one or more of the following ways:

Following community engagement, a consolidated Action Plan including timing and expected costs will be determined by Council, noting that the financial responsibility for many projects rests with the State Government.
