Consultation has concluded

The Public Consultation Policy (formerly Community Consultation Policy) was first developed in 2004 and had a review in January 2011 and 2014 with minor alterations made.

In April 2020 the Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Local Government issued a Notice whereby he exercised his new emergency powers under section 302B of the Local Government Act 1999 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic which allowed a variation to the access to the Council’s principal office, inspection of documents and public consultation.

The Policy was revised in accordance with the government notice.

These temporary changes applied from the Council meeting 4 May 2020 and ceased on 3 August 2020, 28 days after all state major emergency declarations ended.

The changes proposed to the Public Consultation Policy are intended to simplify the policy and provide flexibility and efficiency in meeting deadlines associated with developing, consulting and finalising key strategic management documents including the Strategic Asset Management Plan (SAMP), Long Term Financial Plan (LTFP) and Annual Business Plan.

These changes are not being proposed to reduce the opportunity for community feedback but instead reflect updated processes in preparing annual revisions of the SAMP and LTFP with community input sought each time.
