Consultation has concluded
The Mount Barker Council has partnered with the State and Federal Governments on a project to improve three key public spaces in the Littlehampton Township, Miels Park, part of the Main Street and the Glebe land; a large area of open space on the eastern edge of the town. Council and the community previously identified these projects as key priorities during the formulation of a strategic plan for the town, the Littlehampton and Blakiston Neighbourhood Plan 2018.
At its meeting on the the 7th September 2020, Council endorsed staff to commence public consultation on draft plans for the upgrade of these three public spaces. The draft plans, whilst only a starting point for discussion and further community feedback, have been developed following initial engagement with Littlehampton Community groups. Council is now seeking to engage with the wider Littlehampton and Blakiston Community to gather feedback on the design for improvements to these three spaces.
Council is keen to hear the community’s thoughts on the design of these spaces and the facilities required to make them more usable. We recognise that Miels Park, the Glebe land and the Main Street are all special spaces for the town’s residents, so it is important that the final plans accurately reflect the views of the Littlehampton and Blakiston communities.
The public consultation period will run for 5 weeks from Monday 21 September until Friday 23 October 2020. The community is invited to attend one of two consultation open days, where you can come and view the draft plans, speak with Council staff about your ideas for the spaces and provide feedback that will help shape the final plans. The first of the consultation open days will be held at the Glebe land on Saturday 26th September from 10am – 1pm with access from Fulford Terrace. Whilst the second open day will be held at Miels Park on Saturday 17th October from 10am - 1pm.
In addition to attending one of the consultation open days, you can view the draft plans and provide your feedback by complete the online survey on this webpage. You can email Council with any other feedback you might like to provide on the project at littlehamptongreening@mountbarker.sa.gov.au or you can speak to us by calling Haley Irvine, Council's Senior Open Space and Urban Designer on 83917271.
