Consultation has concluded

Consistent with s92(5) of the Local Government Act 1999, and Council’s Public Consultation Policy, Council on Monday 7 August 2023 endorsed the draft revised Code of Practice for Access to Council and Committee Meetings and Documents (The Code) for public consultation for a period of 21 days with a report to come back to Council’s 3 October 2023 council meeting.

The Local Government Act requires each Council to prepare and adopt a code of practice for access to meetings and documents (The Code).

The Code must be reviewed within 12 months after the conclusion of the November 2022 election.

Before The Code can be altered, public consultation must occur.

Since The Code was reviewed and adopted in May 2022 there have been council meeting resolutions regarding the publishing by council of the recordings of the live streaming of council meetings (March 2023 and May 2023) that included the need to amend the Code.

The changes recommended to The Code as a result of the council meeting resolutions are shown with tracking in the attachment to the council meeting agenda item.

The Code has been revised to include reference to publication of the live stream recording of council meetings and to authorise the revised Code for a period of 21 days’ public consultation.

Feedback is invited on Council's revised Code of Practice for Access to Council and Committee Meetings and Documents. Print copies are available at the Local Government Centre, Level 1, 6 Dutton Road, Mount Barker.

Written feedback should be sent to the Mount Barker District Council, PO Box 54, Mount Barker SA 5251 or email council@mountbarker.sa.gov.au by 5pm on Wednesday 30 August 2023.
