Consultation has concluded

A new Community Plan has been drafted and we are seeking your feedback to improve on what we have developed in response to our engagement to date.

We are particularly interested in your views on our Community Wellbeing, Economic Prosperity and Ecological Sustainability themes and supporting goals.

We also want to know how our six priority directions meet with your aspirations and passions

What has changed in the new Community Plan?

Our plan's name has changed from the Mount Barker 2035 District Strategic Plan from five years ago, to our 'Community Plan 2020-2035' (The Community Plan).

We have reduced the number of community themes from five to three (Community Wellbeing, Ecological Sustainability and Economic Prosperity). To ensure Council can implement the goals and objectives, we have introduced three delivery guidelines of Leadership and Good Governance, Smart Community and Implementation Partnerships

14 new goals have been developed along with 67 objectives (skip straight to the Themes, Goals and Objectives here).

One of the main changes is the creation of six priority directions which have been developed through community engagement. Our priority directions are:

These priority directions have been designed to reflect feedback and submissions received through consultation and through the various other community engagement exercises that Council conducts. Priority directions also reflect local and global issues and challenges, regional strengths and opportunities.

What do you think about the priority directions? Have your say by filling in the survey below by 30 September.

Futures Forum

Approximately 60 people attended a second Futures Forum on 8 September (this follows up from the forum held in November last year). The forum heard from community leaders who spoke about examples and opportunities to work with Council and others to progress priority directions highlighted in the draft Community Plan. Feedback provided at the forum will inform changes to the Plan. View the full video of proceedings and highlights video below.
