Consultation has concluded

Council worked with key stakeholders to develop a draft Parking Management Plan for Hahndorf (the draft Plan). It aims to address the parking demand and congestion in the Main Street area. Broader community feedback was sought on the draft Plan between 8 July and 2 August 2026. This feedback is now being reviewed.

How the draft Plan was developed

The draft Plan has been informed by detailed analysis of vehicle survey data collected during April and May 2025. These surveys provided valuable information about how parking spaces are currently used, including parking demand and turnover throughout Hahndorf.

The primary focus of the draft Plan is on parking management within the Hahndorf Main Street, while also considering adjacent streets and the need for additional off-street parking opportunities.

Council staff worked with key stakeholders in Hahndorf to help develop the draft Plan that is now out for broader community feedback.

The draft Plan includes a number of actions to increase parking supply and parking utilisation, options relating to:

  • Optimising on-street parking in the Hahndorf Main Street.
  • The potential introduction of paid parking arrangements.
  • Improved wayfinding signage for public and private off-street parking areas.
  • Future off-street parking opportunities e.g. 108 Main Street.
  • Parking management in adjacent streets.

Our goal is to create a fair and accessible parking environment that balances the needs of residents, businesses and visitors, while supporting Hahndorf’s role as one of South Australia’s most popular destinations.
