Consultation has concluded
Council worked with key stakeholders to develop the Parking Management Plan for Hahndorf (the Plan), which has now been endorsed. The Plan aims to address parking demand and congestion in the Main Street area. Broader community feedback was sought on the draft Plan between 8 July and 2 August 2026. This feedback was reviewed and helped inform the final endorsed Plan.
How the Plan was developed
The Plan was informed by detailed analysis of vehicle survey data collected during April and May 2025. The surveys provided valuable information about how parking spaces are currently used, including parking demand and turnover throughout Hahndorf.
The Plan focused primarily on parking management within the Hahndorf Main Street. It also considering adjacent streets and the need for additional off-street parking opportunities.
Council staff worked with key stakeholders in Hahndorf to develop the draft Plan before seeking feedback from the broader community.
The endorsed Plan includes to improve parking supply and use, including options for:
Optimising on-street parking in the Hahndorf Main Street.
Improved wayfinding signage for public and private off-street parking areas.
Investigation future off-street parking opportunities e.g. 108 Main Street.
Managing parking in adjacent streets.
The goal of the Plan is to create a fair and accessible parking environment that balances the needs of residents, businesses and visitors, while supporting Hahndorf’s role as one of South Australia’s most popular destinations.

Consultation on the draft Plan was open from 8 July to 2 August 2026. The feedback received was reviewed and considered before the Plan was endorsed.
