The Mount Barker District Council is inviting your feedback on Council’s draft Disability Access and Inclusion Plan (DAIP) 2025–2029. The voices and experiences of people with disabilities are vital in helping us build a welcoming, inclusive community — and to make our region the most liveable in South Australia.
Inclusion makes our community stronger. The DAIP will be our roadmap to building a more accessible and welcoming district for everyone. It benefits us all.
Council’s first Disability Access and Inclusion Plan was endorsed in 2020 that was developed in association with the community to provide a 4-year plan for improving access and inclusion, identifying key objectives and priorities across four themes to ensure the district continues to develop as a highly liveable place for everyone.
In August 2025, the State Disability Inclusion Plan 2025-2029 (State Plan) was published, and Council is now directed by legislation to develop a new Disability Access and Inclusion Plan that aligns to the State Plan.
There are five domains described in the State Plan that Council’s DAIP will need to outline clear and measurable actions against. These domains and associated measures in the State Plan are set by the Department of Human Services which means Council is not seeking feedback on these areas. The five domains are:
Inclusive environments and communities
Education and employment
Personal and community support
Health and wellbeing
Safety, rights and justice
What we want to hear from you and get your feedback on the actions included within Council's DAIP to ensure they meet the needs of our community.
How you can get involved
Community consultation on the draft Plan is open from 10 November to 21 December 2025. You can provide your feedback by:
