Consultation has concluded

In August 2017 the State Government announced $40m for a Fund My Neighbourhood Program which was one of the world’s biggest participatory budgeting exercises and gave South Australian’s the power to nominate and vote for projects to improve their streets, suburbs and towns.

The Nairne community identified two eligible projects for the Fund My Neighbourhood program and Council agreed to project sponsor and deliver the projects if successful.

Through the Fund My Neighbourhood online community voting system, Byethorne Park at Nairne was awarded two grants in November 2017 to design and deliver a:
a. Nature Play area - $100,000
b. Kick around area adjacent to Byethorne Park - $150,000

To ensure the project met the needs of the Nairne community, a FMN - Byethorne Park Working Group was established as the key mechanism for communication and consultation.

The working group undertook a process of sharing ideas for the site and sought input from the broader community through door-knocking local residents and talking to local primary school students.

Through the consultation sessions key priorities were established, including the addition of Block 20 and the unmade road, Packard Street East into the Byethorne Park footprint.
